I-69 Southwest Freeway Squeezed All Weekend: Inside Lanes Closed Elgin to Main, Webster Street Ramp Shut Until Monday Morning
Houston TranStar's weekend construction list is led by the Southwest Freeway, where two inside southbound lanes are closed continuously until 5 a.m. Monday — with the Webster Street entrance ramp and an SH-288 connector shut on the same clock, and the West Loop and Katy Freeway carrying their own lane closures tonight.

The Southwest Freeway is the weekend's biggest squeeze. On I-69 southbound from Elgin Street to Main Street, two inside lanes are closed continuously from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, November 2, according to Houston TranStar's official construction report. The posted detour takes drivers off at Exit 128B to Southmore Boulevard, right on Southmore, right on Main Street, left on Richmond Avenue and back to the I-69 entrance ramp.
The ramp work around it is just as tight. The southbound I-69 entrance ramp from Webster Street is totally closed on the same Friday-to-Monday clock, and so is the SH-288 northbound connector ramp to I-69 South — TranStar routes that traffic through Elgin, Fannin and Alabama streets to Milam Street and Spur 527. The SH-288 northbound entrance ramp from Southmore Boulevard is closed nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Monday morning.
The West Loop is on the list tonight as well: on I-610 northbound from Woodway Drive to Old Katy Road, two inside lanes close nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Friday, November 6. On the Katy Freeway, the long-running White Oak Bayou elevation work still holds two outside westbound lanes from I-45 to Studemont Street, and the I-10 HOV lanes between Franklin and Studemont remain totally closed until further notice, with TranStar directing HOV drivers to the Louisiana and Smith Street exits.
Farther out, SH-146's frontage roads at Fairmont Parkway are down to one outside lane in each direction continuously until 5 a.m. Monday, and US-90 Alternate remains totally closed from Du Pont Street to Cullen Boulevard until further notice, with frontage-road detours by way of Griggs Road.
For all the construction, the roads themselves were quiet heading into Halloween night: TranStar's live incident board on Saturday afternoon showed no active freeway incidents, the day's one listed crash — on I-45 North southbound at Gulf Bank Road — cleared by 4:08 p.m. Saturday.
