Houston Traffic on Tuesday: The South Loop Connector to I-45 Gulf Shuts at Night, Two Katy Exits Narrow on Election Day and US-90A Closes at Du Pont
Monday's drive is posted elsewhere on this page; this is the board that greets Election Day. TranStar closes the I-610 South Loop southbound connector to I-45 Gulf completely on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, narrows the I-10 Katy westbound exits to Bingle/Voss and Campbell from 9 to 1 on Tuesday, and holds a total closure on US-90A from Du Pont to Cullen until further notice.

HOUSTON - Election Day brings its own construction board. Houston TranStar's construction report posts the week's next closures starting Tuesday - and the largest of them is a ramp Houston drivers use every night: the I-610 South Loop southbound connector ramp to I-45 Gulf is under total closure nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Tuesday, Nov. 3 through Thursday, Nov. 5, with TranStar's detour sending drivers onward on the I-610 westbound and down 35 South to reach I-45 southbound.
During Tuesday's voting hours the work is narrower but sits on the Katy corridor. One inside lane of the I-10 Katy westbound exit ramp to Bingle Road / Voss closes on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and one inside lane of the westbound exit ramp to Campbell Road closes in the same 9-to-1 window. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; both closures fall inside the midday voting lull rather than the morning or evening peaks.
Two longer items round out the board. US-90 Alternate in both directions from Du Pont Street to Cullen Boulevard is under total closure until further notice, with all traffic detoured onto the frontage roads toward Griggs Road - a harder treatment than the alternate-lane closure posted farther along the same corridor. And on SH-146 in Galveston County, one alternate lane northbound and southbound from SH 96 / League City Parkway to 29th Avenue is closed daily from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Saturday, Nov. 14. Thursday night adds one more ramp: the I-10 East eastbound connector to the I-610 East Loop closes completely nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Thursday, Nov. 5 to Saturday, Nov. 7, with a Turning Basin Drive U-turn detour.
All of these are TranStar's posted construction schedule, not incident closures. Drivers headed to the polls on Tuesday meet only the two Katy exit lanes; drivers out after 9 p.m. Tuesday meet the South Loop connector first.
