Houston Traffic at 9 P.M. Monday: Both Freeway Accidents Cleared, a Major Accident on South Gessner, and the US-90 Alternate Night Work Begins
TranStar's 9:07 p.m. board is the calmest freeway picture of the evening: two freeway incidents, both cleared. The live item is on the streets - a major accident at South Gessner and Town Park reported at 9:00 p.m. - and the week's night work has started, with US-90 Alternate's westbound lane closure active from 9 p.m.

HOUSTON - The freeways let go first. On Houston TranStar's 9:07 p.m. board, the freeway incident list is down to two entries and both carry cleared stamps: a two-vehicle accident on the IH-610 West Loop northbound at South Post Oak Road - left shoulder, left lane and exit ramp - cleared at 8:53 p.m., and a two-vehicle accident on SH-225 westbound at Beltway 8-East, right shoulder and right lane, cleared at 8:39 p.m. The three I-45 incidents that led this station's 7 p.m. file have rolled off the board entirely.
The streets took over the board instead. A major accident at 6101 South Gessner Road at Town Park Drive was reported at 9:00 p.m., the freshest incident in the region; a minor accident on Gellhorn Drive followed a minute earlier in the listing, at 8:59 p.m.; and a major accident on Gears Road was reported at 8:17 p.m. Six stalls round out the board, three of them on the Katy Freeway and the East Freeway shoulders and one long-running stall on IH-69 southbound at SH-6 in Fort Bend County, verified just after midnight. TranStar reported no high-water and no ice locations anywhere in the region.
And at 9:00 p.m. sharp, the night's construction switched on: US-90 Alternate westbound from Buffalo Speedway to the IH-610 South Loop closed one outside lane for pavement repair, a nightly closure TranStar lists as active from tonight through Friday at 5:00 a.m. It joins the standing program - the US-90 Alternate's total closure between Du Pont Street and Cullen Boulevard, the Katy Freeway HOV's total closure between Franklin and Studemont, and the West Loop's nightly striping lanes between Woodway and Old Katy Road.
For the drive home and the overnight hours, then: freeways clear of accidents, one fresh major accident to route around on South Gessner, and cones where the pavement crews are. This desk reads TranStar again in the morning.
