Houston Weather at 4 A.M.: 66 and Overcast, Halloween Upgraded From Drizzle to Rain Code 61, Election Day's Rain Chance Climbs to 68 Percent

The 4 a.m. feed makes two moves Houston should notice: Saturday is now a rain day, not a drizzle day, and Tuesday's storm chance is the highest it has been all night.

Houston Weather at 4 A.M.: 66 and Overcast, Halloween Upgraded From Drizzle to Rain Code 61, Election Day's Rain Chance Climbs to 68 Percent (SPACE CITY DAILY)

HOUSTON - Houston stood at 66.3 degrees, feeling like 68.8, under overcast code 3 skies on the station's live weather feed read at about 4:07 a.m. Friday, the final day of early voting. Friday itself firmed up a little: its code rose from light drizzle 51 to moderate drizzle 53, its high recovered to 75.6 degrees from 73.7, its low is 64.5, and its rain chance eased to 24 percent from 26. A grey, damp-edged day, but not a washout for the voters who still have to cast an early ballot.

Halloween Saturday changed character. The feed now carries rain code 61 for Saturday - a step up from the drizzle codes 55 the night carried - at 78.2 degrees over 64.7, even as the raw rain chance eased to 47 percent from 56. Read together, the model is more confident about what kind of precipitation Saturday brings and a little less sure it covers everyone: plan trick-or-treat around actual rain, not mist.

The rest of the week dried at the edges. Sunday holds overcast at 85.2 and 70.8 with its rain chance down to 6 percent, and Monday stays the warm day at 87.1 degrees with its chance down to 4. Wednesday remains the clear day, code 0 at 77.0 degrees with a 26 percent chance, and next Thursday reads overcast at 80.0 with a 6 percent chance.

Election Day moved the other way. Tuesday keeps thunderstorm code 95 at 78.6 degrees over 68.2, but its rain chance climbed to 68 percent from 60 - the highest figure the feed has posted for Tuesday in this cycle of updates. Nothing about the day softened overnight; if anything, the storm signal for the day Houston votes got stronger.
