Daytona Beach Woman Arrested on Felony Charges After a Posted Threat to Kill Trump at Tonight's Rally; She Told Investigators She Was Joking (SPACE CITY DAILY)

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A 21-year-old Daytona Beach woman was arrested Thursday night after authorities said she posted a threat on social media to kill President Donald Trump ahead of his campaign rally in the city Friday, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported. Allison Jeanne Albro is charged with one count of making written threats to kill or do bodily injury, a second-degree felony, and one count of using a two-way communications device to commit a felony, a third-degree felony, according to Volusia County Clerk of Court records. The charges are accusations; Albro is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office Domestic Security Unit and the U.S. Secret Service contacted Albro after learning of the post, according to a statement Sheriff Mike Chitwood shared on social media Friday morning. Albro told investigators she was joking, did not have access to the Glock mentioned in her post or to any other weapon, and would never hurt anyone, according to Chitwood. 'We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president,' the sheriff wrote. Court records list her arrest time as 8 p.m. on October 29; she is being held at the Volusia County branch jail and was scheduled for an initial court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The arrest lands inside an already heavy security operation. Chitwood said his office is coordinating with the Secret Service, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies on security for the presidential visit: Trump is expected to take the stage at 7 p.m. Friday at the Ocean Center, in a rally this station has covered through the week's schedule, protest and road-closure files. The case will now be decided in Volusia County's courts, on the post, the charges and the defendant's account of both.
