Texas Early Vote Passes 4.39 Million Through Sunday as Final Week Opens
Texas voters had cast 4,394,304 early ballots through Sunday, according to the Secretary of State's county files tallied Monday morning - about 23.1 percent of the state's registered voters, with in-person early voting running through Friday.

Texas voters had cast 4,394,304 ballots in the November 3 midterm elections through Sunday, October 25 - 4,192,368 of them in person and 201,936 by mail - according to the Texas Secretary of State's daily early-voting files, tallied Monday morning by NewsCubby. That is about 23.1 percent of the 19,041,684 registered voters listed in the same files.
Sunday alone added 184,004 in-person votes from 155 of the state's 254 counties; the other 99 counties showed no Sunday in-person votes, because some counties do not offer Sunday voting and others may not have reported yet, NewsCubby noted. The same state files show 4,207,734 ballots through Saturday and 3,728,945 through Friday, a Friday figure slightly above earlier published tallies because counties keep revising their counts. In the state file's largest-county list, Dallas County stands at 371,806 ballots, Tarrant County at 337,084, Travis County at 262,721 and Bexar County at 256,946; the state file lists Harris County at 579,313, a figure that can trail the county clerk's own running total because state and county counts are updated at different times.
Texas does not register voters by party, so no official party split of the early vote exists. A TargetSmart model cited by NBC News puts the modeled Texas early electorate at 46 percent Republican, 44 percent Democratic and 10 percent other - a model estimate, not a count of how anyone voted, and no ballots are counted or released before polls close.
In-person early voting in Texas ends Friday, October 30. Any registered Harris County voter can vote at any vote center in the county during early voting. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
