Harris County Early Vote Passes 624,000 Through Sunday, Still on a Record Midterm Pace
Harris County's early vote reached 624,533 through Sunday — 587,516 of them in person, the most at this point of any midterm on record — as the final week of early voting opens with polls running 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday.

Harris County's early vote passed 624,000 on Sunday, keeping the county on the fastest midterm pace in records going back to 1998. Through seven days, 624,533 registered voters had cast early ballots, according to Harris County Elections figures tracked by ABC13 — 587,516 of them in person, the most in-person early voters at this point of any midterm, ahead of the previous high of 429,009 in 2018.
Sunday itself set a mark. With polls open only from noon to 7 p.m., 40,865 people voted in person — the most ever on the seventh day of a midterm, passing the 34,338 recorded in 2018. In all, 22.7 percent of the county's 2,746,177 registered voters had voted early through Sunday, ahead of the 15.5 percent recorded at the same point in 2022, the last midterm, and ahead of every midterm from 1998 through 2018 at the same stage.
The final week now decides how high the total climbs. Early voting runs Monday through Friday, Oct. 30, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at any vote center in the county, and 2,121,644 registered voters — 77 percent — had not yet voted early through Sunday. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. All early-vote figures are unofficial until the county completes its canvass after Election Day.
