Houston Traffic on Monday Afternoon: The South Loop Connector to I-45 Gulf Shuts on Election Night, the Katy Narrows All Week, and SH-146 Runs Nightly Lane Work Through Nov. 14
The afternoon file is a nights-and-week-ahead set. TranStar closes the I-610 South Loop southbound connector ramp to I-45 Gulf totally, nightly from Tuesday through Thursday; I-10 Katy eastbound loses an inside lane Taylor-to-Houston daily through Sunday and two inside lanes Studemont-to-I-45 nightly through Monday morning; and SH-146's alternate lane closes every night through Nov. 14.

HOUSTON - Election night carries the week's widest single closure. Houston TranStar's construction report posts the I-610 South Loop southbound connector ramp to the I-45 Gulf Freeway under total closure nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3 through Thursday, Nov. 5, with TranStar's detour sending drivers onward on I-610 westbound to take 35 South for I-45 southbound - a route worth knowing before late Election Day trips across the south side.
The Katy corridor carries the week's duration. One inside lane of I-10 eastbound from Taylor Street to Houston Avenue is closed daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 8, and two inside lanes of I-10 eastbound from Studemont Street to I-45 Gulf / Hogan Street close nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Monday, Nov. 9 - the White Oak Bayou corridor work that has narrowed the freeway's downtown approach for weeks.
On the north side, the I-45 North exit ramps take turns: one inside lane of the northbound exit ramp to Tidwell Road closes overnight Tuesday 9 p.m. to Wednesday 5 a.m., and one inside lane of the northbound exit ramp to Parker Road closes overnight Wednesday 9 p.m. to Thursday 5 a.m.
And the bay side gets the longest run: one alternate lane of SH-146, northbound and southbound from SH 96 / League City Parkway to 29th Avenue, is closed daily from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Saturday, Nov. 14. All six items are TranStar's posted construction schedule. For tonight itself, the standing items from the midday file still govern - the West Loop's northbound inside lanes from 8 p.m. - and the new nightly sets begin Tuesday.
