Houston's Thursday Peaks at 79.1 Under a Clear Sky - and the Week Ahead Moved: Monday Cools to 81.8, Election Day's Storm Code Eases to 95 (SPACE CITY DAILY)

HOUSTON - Thursday afternoon is the day the morning promised. The station's live Open-Meteo feed reads 79.1 degrees under a clear sky, code 0, feeling like 82.5 - effectively at the day's high of 79.1, with a rain chance of 2 percent and a low tonight of 65.4. Friday, the final day of early voting, stays cooler and overcast on this read: code 3, a high of 75.9 and a low of 63.8, with an 11 percent rain chance. Saturday remains the week's first wet day - code 63, steady rain, 84.8 and 67.9, rain chance 59 percent - so Halloween plans still dress for rain.

The back of the week is where the feed moved. Sunday trimmed from 88.6 to 86.0, still the warmest day of the seven at an 8 percent rain chance. Monday changed the most: the high fell from 87.5 to 81.8 and the code moved to 51, light drizzle, with a low of 73.7 and a 4 percent rain chance - a noticeably cooler, greyer start to election week than this morning's feed showed.

Tuesday, Election Day, is still the day to plan around, with one softening detail. Its code eased from 96 to 95 on this read - a thunderstorm, without the hail-risk tag the morning and noon feeds carried - and its high rose from 76.7 to 80.4, with a low of 67.6. The rain chance did not move: 61 percent, still the week's highest. One afternoon code change is not an all-clear, and the Weather Desk is not calling it one; voters should still leave extra time Tuesday. Wednesday cools to 72.0 under code 2 with a 36 percent rain chance.
