Houston Warms to 72.3 Under Thursday's Overcast, but Friday's Rain Chance Has More Than Doubled to 26 Percent and Election Day's Storm Risk Is Up to 61

The late-morning feed sharpens the wet end of the week: Friday is no longer a sure-dry voting day, Saturday's Halloween rain turns heavier at code 63, and Tuesday's hail-risk thunderstorm now carries the week's highest rain chance.

Houston Warms to 72.3 Under Thursday's Overcast, but Friday's Rain Chance Has More Than Doubled to 26 Percent and Election Day's Storm Risk Is Up to 61 (SPACE CITY DAILY)

HOUSTON - Houston's Thursday is warming through its overcast - 72.3 degrees late morning, feeling like 75.3, on the station's live Open-Meteo feed - on the way to a high of 78.9 with a rain chance of just 2 percent. Today remains the driest day left this week by a wide margin, and it is now the only one the feed describes that way.

Friday, the final day of early voting, changed the most since dawn. Its rain chance more than doubled in the late-morning read, from 11 percent to 26 percent, with a high of 75.9 and a low of 63.9. That is still more dry than wet - most voters will not need an umbrella - but the trend across three reads today has run one direction, and anyone voting Friday should check the sky before leaving. Saturday's Halloween rain also stepped up: the code moved from 61 to 63, steady moderate rain, its chance rising from 54 to 59 percent, its low falling to 67.9 under a high of 85.8. Trick-or-treat planning should now assume rain, not risk it.

Beyond the weekend the pattern holds its shape. Sunday is the week's warmest day at 88.6 with an 8 percent rain chance, Monday runs 87.5 at 4 percent, and then Tuesday - Election Day - still carries code 96, a thunderstorm with a hail risk, with its rain chance now up to 61 percent, the highest of the seven days, on a cooler high of 76.7. Wednesday clears to code 0 and 76.6. The week's advice, updated: vote today if you can, take an umbrella Friday just in case, dress Saturday's costumes for real rain, and give Tuesday's trip to the polls extra time.
