World Series Game 5 Live: Brewers Lead the Rays 1-0 in the Fourth, One Win From the Title
Cooper Pratt's second-inning RBI single is the only run so far at Tropicana Field, Jacob Misiorowski has been perfect through two, and Milwaukee - up 3-1 in the series - is nine outs of baseball from the first championship in franchise history. Tampa Bay, down to Drew Rasmussen on short rest, has one hit.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Milwaukee Brewers are protecting a 1-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the top of the fourth inning of World Series Game 5 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field, per the live Sportradar file - and with a 3-1 series lead, a win tonight gives Milwaukee the first World Series title in franchise history.
The run came in the second inning. Brice Turang doubled, Sal Frelick was hit by a pitch, and rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt singled softly over second base to score Turang. Pratt keeps making the record book notice him: he is the seventh player under 23 to collect an RBI in four different World Series games, and he has now done it in four consecutive games, a feat only Juan Soto had matched among that group. The inning could have been bigger - Pratt was trapped in a rundown trying to take second on the throw, the second time in 24 hours a Pratt baserunning out has loomed large.
Jacob Misiorowski, Milwaukee's starter, has been economical and perfect early: 22 pitches through two innings, six up and six down, three of the outs in the air in the second - length a Brewers bullpen that worked deep into Tuesday's 12-inning Game 4 loss badly needs. Tampa Bay counters with Drew Rasmussen on short rest and has managed one hit; Garrett Mitchell's difficult Series continues - after striking out to end the second he is 2-for-17 with seven strikeouts against the Rays.
The Rays forced this game the hard way, winning Game 4 in the bottom of the 12th on Tuesday, 4-3, after Milwaukee came within three outs of the title. Singer-songwriter Julie Falcon performed the national anthem before Game 5 and longtime Rays voice Dewayne Staats threw out the ceremonial first pitch. This is a live file; the final and the full game story file within 45 minutes of the last out in tonight's late cycle.
