Houston Late Wednesday: 71.2 and Overcast, Saturday's Halloween Rain Still a Coin Flip at 50 Percent
The temperature has slid to 71.2 under a closed sky, Friday's drizzle signal has cleared to plain overcast - but Saturday's Halloween code has firmed from drizzle to rain showers at the same 50 percent chance, and the late-week heat is still coming.

Houston's Wednesday night is settling in cool and gray. The station's live weather feed (Open-Meteo), read late this evening, showed 71.2 degrees under overcast skies - weather code 3 - with the air feeling like 74.1. That is more than three degrees cooler than the early-evening read of 74.4, on a day that topped out at 79 with a low of 68 and a 16 percent rain chance that never became the story.
Thursday stays overcast, code 3, with a high of 78.1, a low of 64.6 and a 5 percent rain chance. Friday's signal has eased on this read: where the evening file carried drizzle (code 51), the late feed shows plain overcast, code 3, with a high of 79.1, a low of 63.6 and a 14 percent rain chance.
Saturday - Halloween - keeps its 50 percent rain chance, but the character of the rain has firmed: the code is now 80, rain showers, up from drizzle, with a high of 87.8 and a low of 70.4. Sunday turns hot and mostly dry, overcast at 88.7 with a low of 73.2 and a 3 percent chance, and Monday is hotter still at 88.8. Tuesday's storm signal holds at a 49 percent chance, with the code eased from thunderstorm with hail (96) to thunderstorm (95), a high of 76.4 and a low of 67.8. Trick-or-treat planning should assume the Saturday coin can still land wet; Thursday's and Friday's files will firm it up.
