No. 11 Texas Lists Colin Simmons as Questionable for Mississippi State - and Loses Left Tackle Trevor Goosby for the Season
The SEC's sack leader (10.5) is upgraded from out to questionable after missing the Ole Miss win, though the listing likely still means no. Goosby's torn patellar tendon was repaired Tuesday. The Bulldogs arrive without their quarterback.

AUSTIN - The first SEC availability report of Mississippi State week gave Texas one hope and one final answer. Edge rusher Colin Simmons - the SEC's sack leader with 10.5 - is listed as questionable for Saturday's 6:30 p.m. ESPN game in Austin after missing the 34-27 win over Ole Miss with a right-ankle sprain. The upgrade from absence to questionable is real progress, but the reporting around the program is blunt: questionable in this case likely still means he does not play. The report updates nightly until 90 minutes before kickoff, and every update between now and Saturday will lead with his name.
There is no ambiguity on the offensive line. Left tackle Trevor Goosby is out - for the season. Carted off in the first quarter against Ole Miss with a left-knee injury, he underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn left patellar tendon. Edge Richard Wesley is also out with a high ankle sprain, though his return this season remains possible. The good news is concentrated at the skill positions: running back Hollywood Smothers (shoulder), and receivers Cam Coleman (shoulder, exited the Ole Miss game in the third quarter) and Kaliq Lockett are all listed as probable for the No. 11 Longhorns (5-2, 3-2 SEC).
Mississippi State (4-3, 2-3) arrives shorter-handed still. Quarterback Kamario Taylor is out after season-ending foot surgery on Wednesday, joined on the out list by defensive linemen Diesel Moye and Trevion Williams, receiver Ayden Williams and linebacker Jalen Smith. Two Bulldog starters - safety Isaac Smith, who missed the Oklahoma game, and left guard DJ Chester - are questionable, with the school not specifying either injury. Texas cannot replace a left tackle or the SEC's best pass rusher in three days; it can only scheme around both. Saturday night will show how much of the Longhorns' ceiling was those two players.
