Texas Early Voting Passes 5.1 Million Ballots, Already at 93 Percent of the Entire 2022 Early Vote
Texas has cast 5,105,300 early ballots as of October 28 - 4,882,079 of them in person - with three days of early voting still to run. The total is already 93 percent of all the early ballots Texans cast in the whole 2022 midterm, at a pace the tracker puts 13 percent ahead of that cycle.

Texas early voting has passed 5.1 million ballots. As of October 28, the On Point Politics early vote tracker counts 5,105,300 ballots cast statewide - 4,882,079 in person and 223,221 by mail - drawn from state election office counts via civicAPI. Three days of early voting remain, through Friday, October 30, ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.
The pace is the story underneath the headline number. The tracker puts the 2026 count at 93 percent of the 5.51 million early ballots cast in all of 2022, running 13 percent ahead of that midterm's pace and at 62.6 percent of 2022's total turnout - before the final three early days and Election Day itself. Nationally, the University of Florida Election Lab reported Tuesday that more than 34 million Americans have already voted early, a pace above 2022 that may surpass that midterm's early totals, with Texas logging nearly 4.5 million ballots in its first seven days alone.
What the Texas number does not say is who is winning. Texas does not publish the party of its early voters, and the tracker's party split for the state - a modeled Republican lead of 8 points among early ballots, against its Senate forecast of Democrat James Talarico ahead by 1 point with a 57 percent chance against Republican Ken Paxton - is On Point Polling modeling, not a count. Harris County, this station has reported, passed 742,000 in-person voters through Tuesday on its own record-setting pace. The honest read of 5.1 million is the one the trackers themselves give: an electorate turning out at a rate Texas has not seen at this point of a midterm - with the race it is deciding still to be decided.
