Monday Night Football: Bears Visit the Champion Seahawks at Lumen Field to Close Week 8
Week 8 ends under the lights in Seattle, where the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks - 4-3 and favored by a field goal - host a 5-2 Chicago Bears team that just traded for an All-Pro defensive tackle. Both clubs spent the weekend buying for a run; on Monday night at 7:15 p.m. Houston time, the new pieces meet.

SEATTLE - The Chicago Bears head to Lumen Field on Monday night for a meeting with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, the Week 8 finale on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. Eastern - 7:15 p.m. in Houston - with Chicago at 5-2 and Seattle at 4-3.
The matchup got more interesting over the weekend, when both teams made splashy trade acquisitions, VSiN's preview reported: the Bears traded for All-Pro Tennessee defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, and the Seahawks bolstered their offensive line by trading for guard Quenton Nelson. Seattle is favored by a field goal at home - minus 3, with a total of 46.5, on DraftKings lines as of Sunday - despite public interest in the Bears.
The case for the favorite is the defense and the building. Seattle ranks No. 2 in the NFL in EPA per play allowed, third against both the pass and the run, and head coach Mike Macdonald's team is 13-3 straight up as a home favorite. The Seahawks also woke up offensively last week in a 20-3 win over Kansas City, with quarterback Sam Darnold feeding receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba - the connection Chicago's defense, Simmons included, has to slow first.
For Houston viewers, it is the last football before an Election Day with no NFL competition - and a measuring game for two teams that have both decided, loudly and expensively, that they are contenders this season.
