After the Sugar Land Softball Brawl, the League Cuts Ties: Everyone Involved Dismissed, the Team No Longer Part of Illusions Gold
Days after a parents' brawl at a 12-year-olds' game in Sugar Land left one father with a fractured skull and brain bleeds, the Houston-based organization has permanently dismissed everyone involved and severed the team - and removed its page from the program's website.
The organization has made its decision. Days after a fight between parents at a youth softball game in Sugar Land, Illusions Gold Fastpitch has cut ties with everyone involved, the Daily Caller reported Wednesday. 'We want to state unequivocally that our organization does not condone this type of behavior under any circumstances,' the league's statement reads. 'The individuals involved have been permanently dismissed from our program and the team is no longer associated with Illusions Gold Fastpitch.'
The brawl happened October 24 at Imperial Park during an Illusions Gold Fastpitch select game for 12-year-olds, after an argument that began when Kiarious Marshun Hall was seen cheering while a player was up to bat. Hall allegedly hit a man with a metal water bottle, leaving him unconscious; according to the Fox News account carried in Wednesday's reporting, the struck father suffered a fractured skull, a broken jaw and three brain bleeds. Gary Greaser, another man who tried to break up the fight, fell to the ground and suffered injuries to his chin and a broken hip that required seven stitches. Hall's wife, Jazmine, was seen on video allegedly running into the brawl and knocking Greaser into a group of bushes. A husband and wife face assault charges, per the Fox account, and the woman has resigned from her job as a school assistant principal. This station covered the arrests on Tuesday.
The severing is already visible on the program's own site. Illusions Gold is headquartered in Houston and lists 26 Texas-based softball teams - but as of Wednesday, the team Hall's daughter played on, Illusions Gold 2033, is no longer featured.
Every adult at that game was there to support a child or grandchild on the field. The organization's answer to what happened in the stands is now the strongest one a league can give: the people are gone, and so is the team.
