The overcast broke overnight. Houston Weather at 5 A.M. Monday: 69.7 Degrees Under a Clear Sky - Election Day's Rain Chance Eases to 77 Percent (SPACE CITY DAILY)

HOUSTON - Houston stood at 69.7 degrees under a clear sky (code 0) at 5 a.m. on Monday, feeling like 75.4, according to the station's live weather feed - the first clear-sky read of the night, after overcast skies at both the 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. checks, and the coolest temperature of the three.

Monday itself stays the week's simplest day: overcast returns on the daily line (code 3) but the rain chance is just 3 percent, with a high of 81.9 and a low of 69. For the campaign's last full day of errands and the Rockets crowd headed downtown tonight, the feed offers no weather excuse.

Tuesday - Election Day - still carries the week's weather headline, with one number moving in voters' favor. The day's code remains 82, the violent-rain-showers end of the scale the feed uses, at a high of 80.9 and a low of 64.5 - but the rain chance has eased to 77 percent from the 84 percent the station carried overnight. Polls run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Harris County; the morning-of update will say whether the easing holds.

Behind Tuesday, the week's back half shifted: Wednesday is overcast at 80.4 with the rain chance down to 12 percent, Thursday stays the coolest day at 76.4 with a drizzle code (51) but its rain chance has jumped to 32 percent from 9, and Friday through Sunday return to the low 80s under overcast skies with rain chances of 15 to 17 percent.
