The evening feed's news is stability where it matters: Halloween's drizzle and Tuesday's thunderstorm both held their codes, while the city's temperature slid five and a half degrees after sunset approached.

Houston Cools to 72.7 as Thursday Ends: Friday's Low Warms to 64.3, and Election Day's Storm Code Holds at 96 for a Second Straight Read (SPACE CITY DAILY)

HOUSTON - Thursday is cooling on schedule. The station's live Open-Meteo feed reads 72.7 degrees at the evening check, feeling like 72.8, under a partly cloudy sky (code 2) - down from 78.2 at the afternoon read and 79.1 at the day's peak, with the day's low of 65.4 still ahead overnight and the rain chance at 1 percent. Friday, the last day of early voting, is overcast (code 3) at a high of 75.9 - and its low warmed a degree on this read, to 64.3 from 63, while its rain chance eased from 11 to 9 percent.

The two days this desk has watched all week did not move. Saturday, Halloween, holds its eased position: drizzle (code 55) with a 43 percent rain chance, a high of 84.8 and a low of 67.1 - damp rather than soaked, the same read as the evening file two hours ago. Sunday stays overcast (code 3) at 86 and 70.2 with a 10 percent rain chance, and Monday keeps its light-drizzle code (51) at 81.8 with a 5 percent chance.

Tuesday, Election Day, holds at thunderstorm code 96 with a 62 percent rain chance - still the wettest and stormiest read of the seven days, with a high of 80.4 and a low of 67.6. After three code changes on Tuesday's line earlier today, two consecutive reads now agree, which is the closest this feed comes to confidence; voters casting ballots on Election Day itself should still plan for rain and leave extra time. Wednesday cools sharply behind it, to a high of 72 under code 2 with a 25 percent rain chance.
