Alcaraz Beats De Minaur 6-1, 6-4 to Win the Vienna Open, His 28th Career Title

Carlos Alcaraz did not drop a set all week in Vienna, and he did not start in Sunday's final: a 6-1, 6-4 win over Alex de Minaur gave the 23-year-old Spaniard his fourth title of the season, a perfect 16-0 record at ATP 500 events this year, and a 26-match winning streak at that level.

Alcaraz Beats De Minaur 6-1, 6-4 to Win the Vienna Open, His 28th Career Title (SPACE CITY DAILY)

VIENNA - Carlos Alcaraz beat Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday to win the Vienna Open, claiming his fourth title of the season and the 28th of his career while extending his ATP 500 winning streak to 26 matches, Reuters reported.

The 23-year-old Spaniard seized control from the opening stages, breaking De Minaur's serve in the first game and quickly building a double-break advantage as the Australian struggled to contain his intensity. The seven-time Grand Slam champion raced through the opening set 6-1, repeatedly punishing short balls and forcing errors, and although De Minaur put up greater resistance in the second set and kept pace for long spells, Alcaraz closed out the victory in 97 minutes - his seventh consecutive win over De Minaur, on grass, clay and hard courts alike.

He sealed it with trademark panache, according to the Associated Press account: a sliced backhand drop shot drew De Minaur to the net, a backhand lob pushed him back, and after the Australian volleyed that shot back near the net, Alcaraz clipped a cross-court forehand that landed just in.

The title caps a perfect week - Alcaraz did not drop a set across his five matches in Vienna, completed a 16-0 record at ATP 500 events in 2026, and arrived on the back of titles in Doha and Tokyo in a season that already includes the Australian Open, which completed his career Grand Slam. He heads to next week's Paris Masters having already qualified for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin. De Minaur, the fifth seed, who beat Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, turns to Paris still pushing to qualify for the ATP Finals for a third consecutive year.
