WNBA Finals Game 7 Preview: Dream and Valkyries Play for a First Title on Halloween - How to Watch (SPACE CITY DAILY)

SAN FRANCISCO - The WNBA Finals have never needed a seventh game, and the first one could hardly be staged better: Saturday night, October 31, Halloween, at the Chase Center in San Francisco - the building the Golden State Valkyries' fans call Ballhalla. Tip is 8 p.m. ET, with live coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET on USA Sports and streaming on Peacock, as the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries play one game for a championship neither franchise has ever won.

The two finalists arrive by opposite roads. The Dream joined the league as an expansion team in 2008 and have reached the Finals four times - 2010, 2011, 2013 and now 2026 - without a title. The Valkyries are playing for their first championship in the franchise's second year in the league. NBC Sports frames the matchup as a tale of two expansion teams, a few years apart, and two powerhouse defenses - and Game 6 showed which defense, and which offense, travels better on a given night.

Atlanta forced this game by playing, in Rhyne Howard's words, with a 'do or die' energy: an 80-69 win in Thursday's Game 6, built on a dominant first quarter that left Golden State trailing by 17 and on 13 three-pointers from a team that had struggled to hit them earlier in the series. The Dream's task Saturday is to carry that energy into a road building. Golden State's is the mirror image: come out stronger off the jump at home, with fewer turnovers and cleaner shooting than the start that buried it in Game 6.

The series also returns to primetime - Game 6 tipped at midday because of an Atlanta Hawks scheduling conflict at State Farm Arena - and it returns with a guarantee no Finals has carried before: because the best-of-seven format only began in 2025, and because both of these teams are title-less, Saturday crowns a first-time champion either way. One game, on Halloween, for the whole season.
