Houston Weather at 8 A.M.: 74 Degrees and Cloudy, Midday Showers, Then a Clearing Halloween Night
Houston's Halloween runs in two acts on Saturday: a cloudy, humid morning and a round of midday showers, then a partly cloudy evening near 78 degrees for trick-or-treating.

Houston starts Halloween warm and grey. Weather.com's live Houston read at 8 a.m. Saturday showed cloudy skies, 74 degrees, humidity at 93 percent and an east wind at 6 mph, with no weather alerts in effect for the city. The morning stays mostly cloudy in the mid-70s before the day's one wet window opens around midday.
That window is the part of the day to plan around. The hourly forecast puts showers over Houston from about noon to 2 p.m., with rain chances of 36 to 45 percent and temperatures climbing through the upper 70s to about 80. The daily summary gives Saturday a high of 82, a low of 70, and a 50 percent overall rain chance worth about 0.29 inches. It matches the national picture forecasters drew for Halloween: USA Today reported AccuWeather expects thunderstorms may accompany downpours in communities from South Texas to southern Arkansas, including Houston and New Orleans.
The evening is the payoff. By 5 p.m. the forecast turns partly cloudy with rain chances down to 2 to 4 percent, temperatures holding at 80 to 81 into the early evening and easing to 77-78 by trick-or-treat time, with sunset at 6:35 p.m. Families heading out after the midday showers should find dry streets and warm air rather than a washout.
Sunday, the first day of standard time after clocks fall back at 2 a.m., runs partly cloudy with a high of 83, a low of 72 and a 20 percent rain chance. The Weather Desk's next full file is the 17:00 evening update, which will also firm up the Election Day thunderstorm signal the longer-range outlooks keep carrying for Tuesday, November 3.
