Houston Weather at 5 P.M. Monday: 77.7 Degrees and Mainly Clear, and Election Day's Heavy-Rain Chance Eases Again to 39 Percent
The evening read cools Monday to 77.7 degrees, feeling like 81, still mainly clear. Election Day keeps the week's strongest code - heavy rain (65) at a high of 83.2 - but its rain chance slipped for a second straight file, 45 to 39 percent. Wet is still the plan for Tuesday's voters; a soaking is a little less certain than it was at 3 p.m.

HOUSTON - Houston stood at 77.7 degrees under a mainly clear sky (code 1) at 5 p.m. on Monday, feeling like 81.0, according to the station's live weather feed - down four degrees from the 3 p.m. read as the evening settles in, on a Monday whose daily line is overcast (code 3) with a high of 82.4, a low of 70.4 and a 4 percent rain chance.
Election Day's line moved only at the edges, and in the friendlier direction. Tuesday keeps its heavy-rain code (65) - still the strongest rain code on this week's board - and its high of 83.2 with a low of 62.3, but its rain chance eased from 45 to 39 percent, after easing from 48 earlier in the day. The code says plan for rain at the polls; the chance says the heaviest of it is no longer a coin flip. Polls open at 7 a.m., and an umbrella in the car remains the cheapest insurance in Harris County.
Wednesday still clears the week out: partly cloudy (code 2), a high of 80.7, no rain chance, and a morning low of 57.0, the coolest of the week. Thursday and Friday hold at rain showers (code 81), 74.6 and 77.1 degrees, with chances of 35 and 30 percent.
The weekend is unchanged: Saturday and Sunday both overcast at 79.3 and 79.7 with rain chances of 28 percent each. This desk reads the feed again tonight, with Tuesday's code the one that matters.
