Harris County Early Voting Passes 706,000 Ballots Through Monday, a Record Midterm Pace
Monday brought 79,474 in-person voters - the most on the eighth day of any midterm in records back to 1998 - lifting Harris County to 706,000 early ballots, 25.7 percent of its registered voters, well ahead of 2022's 17.6 percent at the same point.

Harris County's early vote kept setting midterm records on Monday. The ABC13 early vote tracker, built on Harris County Elections data, counts 79,474 in-person voters on Monday, October 26 - the most on the eighth day of early voting of any midterm in records going back to 1998, ahead of the previous high of 65,703 in 2018. Through eight days, 666,988 people have voted in person, also the most at this point of any midterm; the previous high was 494,712, in 2018.
Counting mail ballots, 706,000 Harris County voters have now cast an early ballot - 25.7 percent of the county's 2,746,177 registered voters. That share is ahead of 2022, the last midterm, which stood at 17.6 percent at the same point, and ahead of all six midterms before it. The other side of the record is just as large: 2,040,177 registered voters, about 74 percent, have not voted yet.
Any registered Harris County voter can use any of the county's 75 early voting sites, and the tracker's history points to a rush still to come: in both 2022 and 2024, Sunday was the slowest early voting day and the final day was a surge - in 2022 the last Friday brought 106,677 voters, more than any other day of that cycle.
In-person early voting runs through Friday, October 30, with Harris County polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. All figures are unofficial until the county finishes reconciling them after Election Day.
