Fatal Shooting at a Greens Road Apartment Complex Goes to a Harris County Grand Jury
A man in his 20s was found shot in a vehicle that had hit a tree at 400 Greens Road on Thursday night. Two people were interviewed, no one has been charged, and a grand jury will review the case.

HOUSTON - A fatal shooting at an apartment complex at 400 Greens Road will go to a Harris County grand jury, Houston police said. The shooting happened about 9 p.m. Thursday, October 29. Patrol officers responding to a shooting call in the complex parking lot found a man with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle that had hit a tree, and Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The man is believed to be in his 20s; the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has not yet notified his family, and police have not released his name.
HPD Homicide Division detectives I. Barrett and A. Beiza said the preliminary investigation identified two persons of interest. Investigators interviewed both and consulted the Harris County District Attorney's Office, and then referred the shooting to a grand jury. Police did not say whether anyone has been charged, did not describe what led to the gunfire, and did not release details about the two people interviewed. A referral is not a charge: it hands the evidence to a panel of Harris County residents to decide whether charges should issue at all.
Police have not said when the grand jury will take up the review. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600; the incident number is 707231326. Greens Road runs through the north Houston corridor between I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road, a stretch of large apartment complexes where Thursday night's shooting is now a grand jury's question.
