Dynamo Beat the Sounders 1-0 in Seattle: Halter's 26th-Minute Header Stands Up Through a Night of Defending

One shot on target was enough. Lucas Halter's first-half header gave Houston a lead it defended for more than an hour at Lumen Field, and the Dynamo left Seattle with a 1-0 win and 51 points on the season.

Dynamo Beat the Sounders 1-0 in Seattle: Halter's 26th-Minute Header Stands Up Through a Night of Defending (SPACE CITY DAILY)

SEATTLE - The Houston Dynamo scored on their only shot on target and defended it home. Houston beat the Seattle Sounders 1-0 at Lumen Field on Wednesday night, Lucas Halter's header in the 26th minute - off a Mateusz Bogusz assist - standing as the game's only goal through a second half that Seattle owned almost everywhere except the scoreboard.

The numbers describe a siege survived. Seattle held 70 percent of the possession and outshot Houston 8-1, putting four shots on target; goalkeeper Jonathan Bond and the Dynamo back line turned all of them away. Seattle's five corners produced nothing, and the Dynamo, who had led since the 26th minute, saw out the closing stages without the equalizer ever arriving.

The win moves Houston to 51 points on a 14-9-9 record through 32 matches, eight points clear of Seattle's 43 in the table as the regular season runs toward its November finish. It also closes the Dynamo's long night properly: this station's live file had them ahead 1-0 in the 28th minute, and the header proved to be the final word.

Houston's road swing continues Sunday night at Portland, the next fixture on the club's schedule.
