Rockets Visit Hawks Saturday Night With Both Teams 2-0 (SPACE CITY DAILY)

The Houston Rockets visit the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night at State Farm Arena, with tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Both teams arrive unbeaten at 2-0, and both are playing the second game of a back-to-back after winning on the road on Friday night.

Houston's Friday win was the close one. The Rockets beat the San Antonio Spurs 114-110 in Austin, with Alperen Sengun scoring 29 points with seven rebounds and seven assists, Kevin Durant and Amen Thompson adding 20 points apiece, and Fred VanVleet chipping in 14 points and five assists. Through two games, Sengun is averaging 26 points and Durant 25, according to the matchup figures published Saturday.

Atlanta's Friday win was the opposite kind. The Hawks blew out the Charlotte Hornets 128-81 on the road, building a 25-point halftime lead and pulling their starters early. Jalen Johnson led Atlanta with 19 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, Aaron Wiggins added 19 points off the bench, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 14 with five assists.

Both benches are short-handed. Houston is still missing Reed Sheppard, who is out with a knee injury, while Atlanta remains without Henri Veesaar and Mouhamed Gueye, according to the game preview published Saturday. After Saturday, the Rockets' road trip continues to Milwaukee.
