Maverick County Closes Early Voting With 9,578 Ballots, Up 43 Percent From the 2022 Midterm
The Eagle Pass county beat its last midterm's early total by 2,889 ballots - and still, nearly three in four of its registered voters have yet to vote, with Election Day left to decide it.

EAGLE PASS - Maverick County concluded early voting on Friday with 9,578 ballots cast over the twelve-day period for the November 3 general election, according to figures from the Maverick County Elections Department reported by the Eagle Pass Business Journal. The final day alone drew 1,377 voters.
Against the county's 37,204 registered voters, the early total is a participation rate of about 25.74 percent. The comparison to the last midterm is the headline inside the number: Maverick County recorded 6,689 early ballots in 2022, so this year's early vote is up 2,889 ballots, an increase of about 43.19 percent - in line with the surge Texas saw statewide, where the early total approached 6.9 million.
The same figures carry the counterweight: 27,626 registered voters - about 74.26 percent of the county's electorate - had not voted early. The county's figures are unofficial and do not include mail-in ballots. Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, is the final opportunity for those voters, and in a border county where the early vote jumped this sharply, Tuesday's turnout will decide whether the surge was a shift in when Maverick County votes or in how many.
